2) During the week of March 10th, each team will receive an email telling you where to report for the cleanup on Sunday, March 16th.  There will be multiple meetup locations, so make sure you go to the address on your email.

3) On Sunday, March 16th, you will report to your designated cleanup location to check in with the referee.  Check-in will take place from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.

4) The event starts at 1:00 pm and lasts until 4:00 pm.  Stay as long as you want.

5) When you fill a bag or bags of trash, take it to the check-in table, where they will add the bag to your team's tally.

6) The event officially ends at 4:00 pm, with the last bags needing to be tallied by 4:15 pm.

7) During the following week, check out our website or social media pages to see if your team won!  An email will also be sent out to the winners, where we will figure out how to best get the prizes to the winning team.

FAQs

 What will be provided?

  • Bags, gloves, and a limited number of grabbers will be provided to teams.

What should I wear?

  • Wear weather-appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes you don't mind getting dirty.  A hat and sunscreen is recommended.

What if the weather is bad?

  • In case of poor weather, check your email.  A decision will be made by 11:00 on the day of the event. Any changes made to the event due to weather will be emailed to all registered teams.

How will the scoring work?

  • Each location is given a multiplying factor based on the amount of trash usually found in the area.  Places where more trash is commonly found will be given a lower multiplying factor.  Places where less trash is commonly found will be given a higher multiplying factor.  Each bag collected will be multiplied by your location's multiplying factor.  This is to try to offer a more even playing field as some areas typically have more or larger trash than others.

What if I pull out a larger item like a scooter, blanket, or piece of metal?

  • Large items will count as one bag, and smaller yet significant items will be counted as half a bag.  It will be up to the referee in your area to decide whether it is large enough to count as a whole bag or not.

How many people can be on my team?

  • Teams are made up of a maximum of 5 members over the age of 12. AT least one team member must be 16 or older.
  • It is up to you how you build your team of 5, but you are limited to 5 members 12 years or older.  If you have children under the age of 12, they can be bonus members on your team.  Each team can have up to 5 bonus members under the age of 12.

What if I don't have enough people to make a team of 5?

  • You can register as an individual or a group of 2-4 people.  Teams will be combined to make teams of 5.  You will be allowed one bonus child under the age of 12 per member you are registering, meaning if you are signing up 3 people you can bring 3 children under the age of 12.  You can also register children under 12 as an official member too.

What if I have more than 5 people over the age of 12 wanting to be on a team?

  • You will have to split yourselves into multiple teams.  Teams are limited to 5 members 12 years or older.  If you need to split up your group between 2 or more teams, we can accommodate and put your teams in the same location, please just send an email to wichitacleanstreams@gmail.comwith the names of the people on another team.
